Why is the aluminum frame of photovoltaic module only black and white?

It is well known that aluminum frame is the core auxiliary material of photovoltaic module. In the context of the rapid growth of global photovoltaic installation, some institutions estimate that the consumption of photovoltaic aluminum frame will increase from about 1 million tons in 2020 to about 2.5 million tons in 2025.

The new demand shows a rapid growth trend, but the curious Xiaobian has a strong interest in the appearance of the aluminum frame. The solar frame is not like the electrical frame and electronic product frame can make a variety of brilliant colors, it is only black and silver, why is this? Today we will study:

01. The solar panel has very high requirements for color difference, and the surface color of the cell sheet should be uniform and consistent, without color difference. While silver is the natural color of aluminum, black is the least prone to color difference, so as the frame silver and black is the best choice;

02. The color of solar cells is generally dark, monocrystalline silicon cells are black, polycrystalline silicon cells are a dark blue. The black border is close to the color of the panel, and the color is more harmonious. The silver bezel contrasts strongly with the panels and is also very beautiful and atmospheric, while the other colors of the bezel on the black panels are not so atmospheric;

03. The surface treatment cost is different, the solar frame has strong corrosion resistance, and the surface is anodized. Color anodizing will be less than a coloring step, can save costs, so silver solar bezel is always the largest consumption, black oxidation cost will be higher than silver, but lower than other colors, so black bezel will be a small amount of application in photovoltaic modules;

04. The use of different places, photovoltaic power stations are built in the vast plains or hilly areas, the aesthetic requirements are not very high, but the corrosion resistance requirements are relatively high. So anodized silver and black are perfectly adequate for color needs. And electronic products are used indoors, more contact with people, and the gorgeous appearance is more popular with customers, so the electronic product frame has higher requirements for color.
