EGA supplies solar low-carbon aluminium to European automotive aluminium component manufacturers

On June 21, UAE's Global Aluminium (EGA) signed a deal to supply solar low-carbon aluminium CelestiAL to Mercedes-Benz parts maker Hammer Aluminium (HAI).

EGA supplies thousands of tons of aluminum to HAI every year, and through this agreement, EGA can supply a portion of low-carbon aluminum products to HAI. Both companies are members of ASI, the Aluminium Industry Management Initiative, and through this agreement have established a responsible and low-carbon aluminium supply chain relationship.

"This partnership with EGA allows us to contribute to a better future and shows the key role aluminium plays in realising the eu's green Deal ambitions for decarbonisation of manufacturing," said HAI CEO Rob van Gils. I am personally pleased that HAI will use EGA's UAE-made low-carbon aluminium to produce many parts of the high-end SUV models that are so popular in the UAE. I'm looking forward to driving these vehicles around the dunes of the UAE.

"EGA's launch of low-carbon aluminium is a milestone in achieving zero net growth for our industry," said Abdulnasser Bin Kalban, CEO of EGA. We expect to soon be able to increase production of low-carbon aluminium and meet more global demand for this innovative low-carbon low-carbon product. We are proud that HAI and its customers will use EGA's low-carbon aluminum."

In 2021, THROUGH a partnership with Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, EGA became the first company in the world to commercially produce aluminium using solar energy, It operates the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Industrial Park in the desert outside Dubai.

EGA is expected to significantly increase production of low-carbon aluminium through partnerships with Abu Dhabi's national Energy company PJSC, Dubal Holdings and Uae Hydro to divest its power generation assets and grid power, including increasing the proportion of clean energy. Primary aluminium production is energy-intensive, using electricity that accounts for about 60 per cent of the global aluminium industry's greenhouse gas emissions. The use of solar energy has significantly reduced the emissions associated with aluminium smelting
